The Best Train Experience Days (in order of awesomeness)

Relive the good old days of the steam train, when a train journey was a thrill you didn’t experience every day and the wail of the whistle resounded through the countryside warning all around of your approach. Steam train experiences are of two types – the ones where you sit back and relax as a passenger, savouring the majesty and power of the engine as it hauls your carriage through picturesque scenery; and the ones where you stand on the footplate alongside the driver and get the chance to stoke the boiler and drive the mighty beast. And of course there’s the legendary Orient Express too, the train journey above all train journeys, where you travel the land bathed in sumptuous luxury, waited on by devoted staff, and for a short while live the life of privilege.
